FILM SYNOPSIS
THE SHORT GAME follows the lives of eight of the best 7-year old golfers in the world as they train for and compete in the World Championships of Junior Golf. The annual tournament held at golfing mecca Pinehurst, North Carolina, brings in 1500 young golfers from 54 different countries and determines who will be crowned golf’s next phenom. In its course, the eight stories entwine to form a fascinating and often funny portrait of a group of very young athletes and their families, in which the narrow-focused, peculiar and highly competitive junior golf subculture becomes both a window into contemporary global society and an inspiring reflection of the human condition.
EVENT DETAILS
UPDATE… Due to pending rain this evening, we have decided to move the event to the Casino Theatre and its large & lovely Covered Back Porch at 9 Freebody Street in Newport (across the street from 711, behind the gas station).
IF it rains, the pre-film party (juggling, stilt walking, mariachi band, mini golf, cornhole, bubbles, face-painting) will still go on under the Casino Theatre’s large covered back porch overlooking the grass courts.
IF the weather does cooperate, the pre-film family fun can still happen outdoors on the Tennis Hall of Fame grass courts — a beautiful setting!
Pre-film family entertainment is still from 6:00-7:30 PM
The film will begin inside the Casino Theatre at 7:45 PM
Sorry for any inconvenience and we hope to see you there!
