Set in modern day Paris, SARAH’S KEY tells the story of Julia Amond (Kristin Scott Thomas), an investigative journalist looking for a new angle on an infamous story; the infamous Vel d’Hiv roundup of 1942, when the Jews of Paris were forced by the local police (under orders of the invading Nazi forces) into internment before being shipped away to Auschwitz. As Julia looks deeper into the story of a single family’s experience of the raid, a terrible tragedy is uncovered, exposing a new revelation that changes Julia’s understanding of history. Gilles-Pacquet Brenner’s film is a moving and intense drama and a powerful story of survival under the gravest of circumstances.
