newportFILM lab – apply

Applications are now open for the 2025 newportFILM Cinematography Lab!

The Lab is open to early- to mid-career DPs and image-centered filmmakers.

Applicants are required to submit a work-in-progress that will be presented for reflection and feedback during the Lab. It is expected that the applicant has shot the footage being submitted.

Applications close Friday, September 19, 2025. There is no fee to apply and no cost to attend the Lab. Accepted Fellows will receive a $500 travel stipend to attend.

newportFILM Cinematography Lab Application 2025

  • Describe why you have chosen to pursue a career in image-centered filmmaking. Discuss what you hope to gain from attending the newportFILM lab. Please describe what aspects of your career development you hope to explore and share some of your creative vision
  • Max. file size: 50 MB.
  • Please provide a brief synopsis for the project you have currently in development.
  • Please submit a link to your current work in progress that you will present at the Lab. A clip no more than 5 minutes is preferable.
  • You are welcome to share a reel of your work.
  • Max. file size: 15 MB.
