On May 14th folks from all over the world gathered at Fort Adams during the Ocean Race to watch “Shaped by Water”, a film produced by 11th Hour Racing and presented in collaboration with Protect Our Winters.

From the highest mountains to the darkest depths and everything in between, the ocean connects us all. Through a short artistic film and a documentary, Shaped by Water explores the relationship between athletes and the water surrounding them in its different physical states. The films bring together internationally renowned freediver and 11th Hour Racing ambassador Zandile Ndhlovu (ZAF), world-champion freeskier and
Protect Our Winters Alliance athlete Jess Hotter (NZL), and professional offshore sailors, 11th Hour Racing Team (USA). The art film has a meditative rhythm and flow that aligns with the state of mind achieved when you are fully present in the moment. The documentary is a collection of personal stories told by the film’s producers and athletes, underscoring their connections to the ocean and how their lives have been shaped by water.
With a seamlessly interconnected dance represented through sailing, freediving, and skiing, both films inspire and challenge all of us to think about our world and actions with a fresh perspective never seen before.
