LOUD & CLEAR is an interactive, civics-centered field trip developed by newportFILM EDU in partnership with Salve Regina University and Thompson Middle School. Designed for 8th grade students, the program combines civic engagement and digital media literacy through hands-on learning experiences that help students understand how information, media, and their own voices shape participation in today’s civic landscape.
As part of this program, newportFILM and Salve Regina University also received IRB approval to conduct a survey of participating 8th graders, gathering insights into their digital media habits to better inform and strengthen the educational experience.
newportFILM integrates environmental documentaries with experiential learning to spark curiosity in our next generation. In partnership with City of Newport public schools, University of Rhode Island’s Graduate School of Oceanography and 11th Hour Racing, edu uses the power of nonfiction storytelling to inspire and energize young Rhode Islanders about ocean science and discovery.
