newportFILM Event Staff – Part Time (Summer Seasonal)
Job Description
newportFILM is building an Event Team to help set up our events, serve as on-site ambassadors with a hospitality focus during the event, and break down as we pack out for each of our screenings all summer long. This job is a modest blend of physical labor, and guest-experience hospitality. Each week, we rotate venues such as; Fort Adams, Aquineck Park, Preservation Society Mansion Lawns, etc. A newportFILM screening can see up to 5500 attendees, and it is the job of the Event Staff to help create and maintain a safe and welcoming space for our community.
Responsibilities
- Works with Event Manager and Event Staff to setup and breakdown outdoor Thursday screening events – loading, unloading, carrying supplies, & setting up pop-up tents, activation areas, parking areas & various hospitality logistics
- Manages assigned tasks and duties each week as directed from Events Manager and Managing Director during the event
- Some applicants must be over the age of 25 and able to drive event box truck to and from storage unit to event venue location
About You
Applicants should be proficient in all aspects of event/hospitality logistics or film festival logistics and must be dependable and a quick learner.
Must be comfortable with repetitive lifting/carrying of objects up to 25 pounds, and being on your feet outdoors for extended periods of time.
Experience operating large vehicles is preferred but not required.
Must have own transportation.
Dates and Hours
This temporary position is in person from June 25th – August 27th 2026.
Hours approximately 12-15 hours per week, multiple positions available based on availability.
THURSDAY ALL DAY AVAILABILITY IS REQUIRED JUNE 25th-AUGUST 27th. Thursday hours are 1pm-11pm.
Some Wednesday & Weekend hours are available as well.
- newportFILM Summer Benefit, July 18th, 2026 at IYRS, 1:00PM – 9:00PM
- Clean-up Summer Benefit July 19th at IYRS, 9am-12pm
- Assisting with truck reloads and inventory on Wednesday ahead of Thursday screening days.
Onboarding Meeting DATE & TIME TBD (will be based on everyone availability)
Location
In-person, Newport, RI. The summer outdoor festival is located on the beautiful Aquidneck Island, locations for each screening event change weekly. newportFILM does not provide housing or transportation.
Rate
$20-$25 per hour
